PKO BP Premier League : After seven years, Lech Poznań is back on top .This is the eighth championship title for Lech Poznań. “Kolejarz”

Lech Poznań last recorded the championship in 2015. After seven years of drought, the players under Maciej Skorza won the title of the best team, capping the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Poznan club.

The team also secured the victory in terms of the highest number of triumphs (21) and matches without defeat (29) in the 2021/2022 season. It also has the most goals scored (65) and the least goals lost (23) so far. If it crowns a successful campaign with one more win, it will be the team with the highest points average (2.17) since Legia Warsaw 2013/2014 (2.19).

In the 33rd Ekstraklasa round we had a Poznań derby. Warta Poznań lost in Grodzisk Wielkopolski to Lech 1:2. This victory for Lech was precious on the importance of the Polish champion, after Raków Częstochowa lost away to KGHM Zagłębie Lubin.

Already from early in the morning, one could feel throughout the city that a great football feast was coming. The streets around the stadium, but also in the further parts of the city, were filled with fans of the Poznan teams. Fans who came to Grodzisk Wielkopolski in large numbers were hoping for an exciting and fierce encounter. See what the area around the stadium looked like just before the kick-off:

In the 10th minute a goal was scored by Michał Kopczyński. Warta went into the lead .  A confidently executed penalty kick by Kopczyński. We have 1 :0 for the hosts.

18′ A very good pass from Kaminski to Ishak coming out to a clean position, but the angle was quite sharp when the Lech striker shot. The ball flew over the goal.

Instead, in 20′ Pereira to Amaral, played over the Warta defenders, but Amaral had no chance to reach the ball, so he let go at one point. Kolejorz try to fight back and score their first goal but unfortunately it all ends with them beating their heads against the wall for now.

Already in 30′ From a good position from a corner kick, Pereira crossed , but the ball was kicked in front of the penalty area. Karldtrom strikes but his shot is blocked and once again Rebocho tries to shoot but also not successfully.

We waited for 12 minutes for an equaliser right in the window what a goal . Yes the attacks of the team paid off we have a Goal to equalise ! Shot by Joao Amaral.  We have equalized , 1:1 but Warta provoked it themselves! It was already after the action, but Szczepański behaved badly in this action and passed the ball straight to Amaral’s legs. The striker hit a technical, extremely precise shot from just outside the penalty area and it went straight into the window!

And it happened, in the 45`+ 4th goal for the Polish Champions, Mikael Ishak scored. He was assisted in this action by Pedro Rebocho.

They were unable to kick the ball of the hosts . Rebocho shot the ball hard into the penalty area and, unattacked at the fifth metre, Ishak hit an indefensible shot for the goalkeeper of the guard for Jędrzea Grobelny . Lech in the lead 1 : 2 .

And it happened in 45`+ 4 Goal of the nave of the Polish Champion shot Mikael Ishak. He was assisted in this action by Pedro Rebocho.

54′ A missed shot by Miguel Luis from outside the penalty area. He miscued the ball after a clever play by Grzesik.

And then there was one more convenient action to increase the score in the 63rd minute for Lech Poznan Ishak was in a perfect position, Rebocho spotted it, but Ishak made a simple mistake while receiving the ball and only because of that he did not find himself in a one-on-one situation with Grobelny

A good time for the hosts in the 73rd minute finally saw Warta wake up. Castaneda decided to take matters into his own hands, he shot hard from twenty-five metres, but van der Hart was alert and caught the ball confidently.

81′ It could have been 3:1 after the match but it was close .  Lech’s interception, Ba Loua played into the penalty area to Ishak, but he shot from an acute angle just past the post.

In the end of the match, the table leader controlled the field events. It seems that until the very end Maciej Skorza’s players were in control of what was happening on the pitch, thanks to which they managed to win a very important victory.  “Railwaymen” won the match in Grodzisk 2:1, thanks to which they put the dot over the “i”
