The first quarter started with Piotr Szczotka’s three customs. In the second minute the hosts increased their lead thanks to the next points of the captain of this team. In the third minute Steve Zack opened the score for Trefla with two free kicks. Przemysław Żołnierewicz managed to get 1000 points in PLK using situations in a limited area. The first quarter was dominated by Steve Zack, who constantly drew the game of Trefl. Asseco ceased to be effective, however, Marcel Ponitka gave a boost to the fight. At the end of the first part of the meeting, Asseco was leading by 17:10. Trefl thanks to the next points of Zack managed to get closer to two points. In the last second, Przemysław Żołnierewicz and Asseco made a foul, and the American had a chance to compensate for the result.
Jakub Karolak opened the second quarter with three points, Piotr Szczotka quickly responded, we had a draw for the first time in this match. In the second minute came an important player for the Trefla team, or Marin Stefański. After the next points, the team from Sopot went on the lead. After the action, two + one of them was announced by the irreplaceable Krzysztof Szubarga and the hosts returned to the lead again. In the sixth minute of the second quarter Marcin Stefański scored points – Sopocianie again took the lead. The duo Piotr Szczotka and Krzysztof Szubarg worked perfectly well, thanks to their actions, the hosts went on a four-point lead. Mikołaj Witlinski won his first points, thanks to him, Gdynia jumped seven points. The first half ended with a score of 42:33 for the home team.
The players of both teams in the third quarter started from throws from behind a half-circle 6.75 cm, the difference was thirteen points. After the three of Jakub Garbacz Gdyniń even further increased their lead, coach Marcin Kloziński was forced to ask for a break. In the fourth minute of the second half young Michał Kolenda, who reduced the loss of Trefl, made a signal for himself. After five minutes, the home team lost their rhythm, which made Sopockers approach eight points. In the end, Dariusz Wyka gave a show of himself, who restored the hosts’ calmness by hitting accurately from behind the 6.75 cm line. The third quarter ended with a twelve-point advantage of Gdynia.
The fourth quarter started with the technical foul of Filip Dylewicz, Krzysztof Szubarga took advantage of the opportunity and scored an easy point from the free-throw line. Experienced Dylewicz quickly responded by throwing three. In the third minute of the fourth quarter Łukasz Kolenda made a foul, then he was punished with a technical foul, it was already the second of this type for Sopocians. The Asseco team began to play for a long time and constantly struggled with the time clock of action. In the trio of Filip Dylewicz, Trefl approached five points. After the next points of Jakub Karolak, the Sopot residents approached two points. Jakub Karolak was extremely effective, after the next accurate throw for three points, the Sopocians again went on a one-point lead. Impulse to return to good beat Asseco gave the team captain Piotr Szczotka, although the immediate three responded to Filip Dylewicz. Marcel Ponitka and Mikołaj Witlinski made a spectacular show, thanks to which Trefla’s lead was only two points. After leveling the game for two minutes, Krzysztof Szubarga used the playmaker inattentively, seized the ball and gave hope to the Gdynia citizens to win the derby of Pomerania. At 39 seconds to the end Steve Zack faced the chance to reduce Asseco’s lead and used it by hitting two free kicks. For 25 seconds we had a tie and coach Przemysław Frasunkiewicz was forced to take a break on demand. Marcel Ponitka did not take advantage of the long action, he was blocked by the more experienced Filip Dylewicz in two tones.
