It was in the 22nd round that Radom threw 17 threes and took away two valuable points from Bydgoszcz . Radom defeated Enea Astoria Bydgoszcz 97:92 in the only Saturday game of Energa Basket League.
Astoria Bydgoszcz started off strong and jumped out to 6:0 lead behind great play of Jakub Nizioła. Dayon Griffin quickly scored the equalizer and thanks to Jabarie Hinds free throws visitors gained advantage. Now Enea Astoria had to chase the score, but after a while and three-pointer by Michal Aleksandrowicz it was better. After 10 minutes it was 20:15.
Second quarter started with Radom chasing the ball but hosts quickly managed to pull away with threes. Thanks to Michał Chyliński basket Radom had eight points advantage. Adrian Bogucki finished first half with 47:39 edge.
In the third quarter Radom started to get as close as two points after Griffin and Hinds actions. Tomislav Gabricia’s consecutive threes increased hosts advantage but only for a while. Hinds was unstoppable and after a long distance shot by Roberts Stumbris it was HydroTruck who came back to the lead. The game definitely evened out, but thanks to Corey Sanders’ play it was 75:71 after 30 minutes.
Visitors took the lead again in the last quarter and thanks to another Marcin Piechowicz three-pointer with 3 minutes left they pulled away by five points (85:90). Astoria rallied back then. Gabrić made three-pointer and Nizioł scored on a dunk to tie the game (90:90). Radom players were better on free throws in the last seconds of the game. In the end Jabarie Hinds hit crucial three-pointer and later Americans from Radom club made great free throws. The hero of the game could have been Astoria alum, its current captain Michał Chyliński. Former Polish national team player unfortunately missed that shot.
Visitors won 97:92.
In the next round co to Bydgoszcz they play away on Wednesday (20th of January) against Zielona Gora at 18:00. Radomians will play against Trefl Sopot. The meeting will be played on Friday (January 22) at 19:30 .
