EBL: Failure of Trefl Sopot . Sea wolves defeated the Trefl on the trip . Trefl Sopot – King Szczecin 77:82 (8:22, 21:12, 19:25, 29:23)

Trefl Sopot ended a week-long marathon, in which it played three meetings since Friday. Only one of them ended with a victory. Coach Marcin Stefański decided to make castling and this time in the starting lineup he bet on, among others: Darious Moten and TJ Haws.

What’s interesting from the team, that Szczecin only seven players came to Sopot for this match.

In Ergo Arena one of the matches of 11th Energa Basket League took place. Trefl Sopot lost 77:82 to King of Szczecin, who played only from a seven-person rotation.

The match started for both teams not as planned. Both teams seemed to have problems to score points. Because the effectiveness at the beginning of the first quarter was poor. After breaking the infamous series, the guests started to reach the throwing position and a better concept and better solutions in the attack, as well as the team actions, which were conducted by the charges of coach Łukasz Bielia³a within 4 minutes. Coach Stefański saved the situation and asked for an immediate break on demand.

At that time it seemed that the hosts were gaining wind in the sails, but chasing the result lasted only for a while and by the end of the first quarter nothing could be found. The rivals, on the other hand, recorded an advantage of 10:0. After the first quarter Sopot lost as much as 8:22, it is unbelievable that the team from Sopot loses so high.

At the beginning of the meeting the Szczeciners took advantage of the poor efficiency of their rivals, but in the second quarter of the game he had the same problem. The team of Łukasz Biała threw only 2 points for almost 5 minutes. The clubs reduced the difference even to three points in the second quarter of the game.

In these quarters he unlocked his potential in the offensive that Cleveland Melvin finally bristles. Michael Fakuade did a fantastic job in defense. Everywhere where he was needed Jakub Schenk appeared. Effective from a distance was Thomas Davis

In the third quarter the team from Szczecin won the maximum lead of 17 points. The Sopot players fought, but today they were a weaker team and did not reverse the game.

The fourth quarter started with effective actions of Dominik Olejniczak and Thomas Davis. Trefl fought to make up for the losses, but the Szczeciners did not give up

The Trefl team was hit for three after Paweł Leończyk’s throw and then the guests were also responsible for three thanks to Michael Fakuade.

Marcin Stefański asked for time and it brought the expected results. First, the solo action was carried out by TJ Haws, and then the same player took over the ball and rushed in the counter and placed it in the basket.

There are only six points left to make up for the TJ Haws! (64:70) Coach Biela did not wait long and after a while he used the break on demand.

After returning to the floor the weight of the Szczecin team was taken on by the playmaker, Jakub Schenk.

The five points scored, with a two-point Haws response, gave King a 75:66 lead two and a half minutes before the end of the match.

Two successful actions of Michal Kolenda and Trefl lost only 71:75 is already 4 points to make up for, but unfortunately the difference could not be made up.

Eventually, King Szczecin won by 82:77. The team from Szczecin won seventh in the season. The same number of wins has Trefl, but one more defeat.

Trefl Sopot also informed about a change in the training staff of the first basketball team. Marek Rzeczkowski as a physiotherapist replaced Patryk Bieda, who has held this role since August 2018.
