On Monday evening, both teams – Asseco Gdynia and TBV Start Lublin – faced a duel with one goal – to win. Both the hosts and guests are behind the table due to the small number of matches played. The first quarter started with three of Przemysław Żołnierewicz, however, the athletes of Asseco almost exceeded the action time, which in basketball is 24 seconds. Seven minutes after the start of the match, the visitors from Lublin were on three-point lead. After Bartosz Ciechociński’s third, Start has increased his lead to five points. At the end of the first quarter we had a score of 14 to 22.
At the end of the first minute of the second quarter, Marcin Dutkiewicz scored points, which further increased the advantage of TBV Start Lublin. Asseco traditionally saw Krzysztof Szubarga and Przemysław Żołnierewicz. In the third quarter, Asseco gradually started chasing Lublin and reduced the difference to six points. After six minutes, the Lublinians jumped again to the ten-point lead. There was an advantage for the team from Lublin, three players of American origin made a difference, on the other hand Asseco simply did not go. They have made unsportsmanlike fouls, which is now more because of new interpretations of the rules of basketball. Young players such as Mikołaj Witliński and Marcel Ponitka fought, but it was not enough to catch up with the rival team from Lublin who beat PGE Turów Zgorzelec in the third quarter.
The fourth quarter looked almost like the whole match, the team from Gdynia tried to chase, but to no avail. TBV Start Lublin was unable to enlarge its lead to more than ten points, so the winner’s question remained open. After Dariusz Wyka’s two points difference was only six points. Three of Marcela Ponitka’s Asseco team approached only three points. After the impressive contribution of Przemysław Żołnierewicz, the difference was only two points. Twenty seconds before the end of the fourth quarter, Dariusz Wyka scored three points and Asseco took the lead. After a series of fouls from Asseco Lublin again took the lead.
