In 2000 PZKosz convinced him to play for Poland. During cadet national team tournament in Portugal he aroused interest of Real Madrid scouts. Two years later he became the youngest player in Phoenix Suns history (18 years and 353 days).

When he returned to Europe he played in clubs from Russia, Israel, Turkey, and the longest in Spain. With FC Barcelona, he won that country’s championship in 2014.
As of 2016, Lampe was a member of the Chinese teams Shenzhen Leopards, Quingdao Eagles, Jilin Northeast Tigers and Sichuan Blue Whales. His last club was Al-Manama of Bahrain.
Now in 2021, he signed his first ever contract in the Polish PLK League ( Energa Basket League ) with the club Kinga Szczecin. On the first training Kinga will appear on Tuesday, January 5 .
“Maciej is an excellent player, now he’s coming back after long break, so I think it’s perfect place for him. We will have an advantage of him, he will rebuild, so both sides will be happy. The interview for Polsat Sport was conducted by the assistant coach Maciej Majcherek
As a professional basketball referee from EBL, BE, BUCS,NBL,WNBL in Great Britain I was invited by Maciej Lampe to his international tournament “Lampe Challenge” in Sweden. I came to the first such tournament in 2015 and to this day I’m still a referee there in Stockholm. Lampe started his debut with the first game against Anwil Woclawek. Kinga Szczecin won the away game against Anwil Wloclawek (78:75). It was very close game and we saw fierce battle between both teams and successful debut of Maciej Lampe who scored 15 points in Energa Basket League.

Anwil Wlocławek started with a lead which they kept almost to the end of the first quarter. Young Wojciech Tomaszewski got his chance in the first quarter.
In the second quarter Szczecin’s lead was even 12 points after Tookie Brown and Cleveland Melvin’s free throws. Ivan Almeida and Artur Mielczarek tried to respond but it was not enough for Jesús Ramirez team. Lampe was scoring mainly 7 points including once three pointer. In the second inning Lampe was active again. Włocławek players were missing a lot of shots from unprepared positions and Shawn Jones got injured. First half of the game ended with the score 48:38.
In the third quarter visitors controlled the game. Again Lampe and Zębski made great plays to give guests 14 points advantage. Melvin made it 63:43. Coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz was trying to rotate the roster and look for the right setting. Rotnei Clarke was hitting important threes and Anwil managed to reduce the deficit. After 30 minutes it was 71:58. Clarke and Zamojski were keeping score on Anwil side. Good minutes by Sulima who showed that he feels better playing closer to the basket.
Last quarter started from 58-71 ratio. Based on the score so far it seemed unlikely that Anwil would be able to overcome the deficit especially when Shawn Jones was out of the lineup and Ivan Almeida was playing mediocre basketball. However, Rottweilers showed their character and started chasing the Wolves. Clarke was hitting threes and Sulima was fighting bravely under the basket. Four minutes before the end of the game Zubr’s points cut the Wolves lead to four points (69-73). With less than 24 seconds left after Almeida free throws it was 75-77. Visitors could play till the end and Anwil decided to try to intercept the ball, but it was impossible so with 4 seconds left Almeida decided to foul Melvin. Melvin made only one free throw. Hosts had a chance to go to overtime but Clarke missed the most important shot. Finally Sea Wolves won by two points 78:75.
“I had my last contract in Bahrain, where I played the whole season. After that I decided to rest because my body was tired. I underwent rehabilitation in Spain for two months and decided to play again. I called my agent and said I was ready. I was told to wait almost until the end of February, because in different leagues there are different “deadlines”. But I wanted to train and play 5×5 basketball. There were different offers from Poland to come and train and not play any games. Later it spread, there was talk about contract and I chose Szczecin, because it’s a nice place. I watched three last games of Kinga and I talked a lot with Spanish coach Jesus Ramirez. He said that he would like to take me to the team. Now we just have to play and show what we are capable of. I hope that I will help the team and it will be better than last year . ” – gave an interview for Polsat Sport Maciej Lampe
Coach Ramirez already in his first three games showed that there is a big change. Recently we also got “Tookie” Brown and now me. We hope this will go even better. Of course I would like to win the Polish championship, that’s what I play for. We have a strong enough team, we need to get together and work hard at every practice. Now we will fight for the play-offs, we will see where we finish. We hope that in the future we will play in the finals and fight for the championship – concluded the player.
The team of coach Jesús Ramirez gets the second victory in 2021 and the third victory in the last four games.
Wolves, after success in Wloclawek, occupy 7th place in the table. In next Energa Basket League match Kinga Szczecin players will play against Arka Gdynia on 17th January in Stargard Szczeciński.
