Bristol City are fighting to stay in the Championship , and Peterborough players came to Bristol to pick up points and fight to stay in the league.
Hosts Bristol City took the lead in the 43rd minute when central defender Rob Atkinson, after a corner kick pass, powerfully struck Jay Dasilva’s ball from the left and beat David Cornell.
Posh had to play the last half hour with a 10-man squad after defender Joe Ward was sent off for knocking over Andreas Weimann and squandering a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Posh equalised after 65 minutes, however, when City failed to equalise following a free kick taken by substitute Han-Noah Massengo, with former Bristol Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris scoring from close range.
Peterborough United recovered from the missed goal to deservedly draw 1-1 with Bristol City at Ashton Gate . Bristol City still had a few opportunities to lead at 2;1 and win the 3 points but the ball passed the goal on that day .
After the game we could talk and listen to coach Nigel Pearson of Bristol City: “I am more interested in the game than the reaction of the fans. It was two weak teams. I’m angry about the result because it had nothing to do with tactics and everything to do with personality. Do we have bad footballers? No, but we play well against good teams, not against those lower in the table.
“Practically in every match we match the others, but we don’t always manage to get the right result. We didn’t show enough quality after the change of sides to fully exploit our advantage. We have five games left and the players will either be here next season or not. This applies to me as well. The squad needs to be improved in the summer and the selection for the remaining games will reflect who I think should be part of the future.”
